Britain's Got Talent 2015 auditions: Top 5 performances from first show

Marc Metral and Wendy
With over 1.5 million viewers in just a couple of days, Marc Metral and his ‘talking’ dog Wendy take the top spot. While Simon Cowell and the other judges were impressed, there’s been claims of cruelty after the show aired with the RSPCA investigating.

Calum Scott
Singer Calum Scott wowed Simon with his performance of Robyn’s Dancing On My Own, winning a spot in the live shows after the music mogul slammed his golden buzzer for the musician from Hull.

Billy and Emily England
Billy and Emily England’s dizzying roller skating performance looked close to ending in major injury at one point. The dangerous routine paid off with the sibling duo scoring four yeses from the judges.

Matt McCreary
Matt McCreary brought Free Running to Britain’s Got Talent this year with his routine, pranking the judges halfway through with a staged fall before leaping over hosts Ant and Dec.

Ruby Red Performers
The Ruby Red Performers closed Saturday’s opening episode with a surprise dance routine that saw the ladies strip down to underwear while dancing to a medley of music hits.

RSPCA investigates Marc Metral

The RSPCA is set to investigate Britain’s Got Talent 2015 over walking dog Wendy, as owner Marc Metral denies cruelty.

What had been a standout audition at the weekend has turned into a bit of a controversial act after the secret behind the trick was revealed.

It’s understood that ‘talking and singing’ Wendy is possible thanks to a fake, remotely operated mouth over her real one.

Many have slammed the setup as cruel and a spokesperson for the RSPCA said this week: “It is not clear if Miss Wendy was wearing any sort of muzzle or mask during the performance on

“However, the RSPCA would be very concerned if it became clear that she was caused distress at any point.

“We will be contacting the show to ascertain what methods were used and how they impacted on the dog.”

TV watchdog has confirmed it has received complaints while ITV itself has also had 35 objections.

However Frenchman Marc has insisted that Wendy loves to perform and the act isn’t cruel.

“I’ve been working with Wendy since she was a puppy, training and caring for her for the last five years,” he said today. “She loves performing and I would never put her in a situation that would cause her distress.

“She gets excited when we work and is always comfortable on stage.”

A spokesperson for Britain’s Got Talent commented: “We take the welfare of all of our acts, including animals, incredibly seriously. We consult at length with their owners and where necessary take third party advice.

“Marc has a huge amount of experience having worked with animals since 1980, and with Wendy for the last five years.”

Britain’s Got Talent’s Calum Scott 2015

Britain’s Got Talent’s Calum Scott has credited his sister Jade for his “powerful” performance.

Calum wowed the judges with his voice on last night’s show not only winning four yeses but also Simon Cowell’s golden buzzer.

“It was amazing, I really mean that, well done,” Simon told him. “I’ve never, ever in all the years I’ve done this show heard a guy with the talent you’ve got. The version [of Robyn’s Dancing On My Own] was sensational, you’re more than a singer, you’re an artist and that’s why you got that [the golden buzzer].”

However his success came after his sister Jade Scott got four nos from the judges after also singing.

“It was the best day of my life under the worst circumstances,” Calum said after his audition at the weekend. “But I think it was why my performance was so powerful. The first thing I said to Jade was, ‘I’m sorry’ and she told me not to be stupid.”

Speaking to the official BGT website over at ITV.com, Calum continued: “I’d have been happy with advice.

“I couldn’t believe it when Simon stood up – it was surreal. I’m still shaking. ”

Now into the live semi-finals already, Calum revealed: “I am practising already. I just want to make Simon proud.”
